General description of the Sierra mobile or stationary S5000
In the world of scrap metal processing, equipment value and capability are essential to a profitable business, and the Sierra S5000 delivers on both counts.
A baler / logger that s sized perfectly for cost-conscious operators. With its rugged self-framed construction the Sierra S5000 incorporates features found in machines much more costly.
Our highly efficient hydraulic and power unit allow our customers to prepare their material with a very low cost per ton ratio. This means a higher operational margin and a higher profit.
The production capacity of this machine is unique for a machine of this segment.
Due to its large charging box it can easily fit a large car or even a van!
Power unit:
The advanced Sierra technology enables us to reach high production levels with only a 146 HP engine. This translates into low processing costs.
The power unit of all Sierra machines has been designed in such a way that the least
possible amount of energy is needed to obtain the highest possible output ratio.
The machine is diesel driven.

Hydraulic unit:
The S5000 is the only baler in this segment to use a distributor block allowing for
smoother and faster cycles.
The baler is equipped with top of the line pumps and valves.
A variable displacement pump for high pressure combined to a gear pump for low pressure, guarantees maximum oil flow and high speed operation. The use of the distributor block, rather than simple directional valves, allows for operating pressures up to 320 Bar!

Control unit and crane:
Ergonomic and easy to use controls enable a reliable and fast operation of the S5000
The unparalleled superiority of all Sierra components have proven to be the most reliable in the industry. They are particularly well suited for the scrap yard environment where vibrations, dirt, dust and humidity prove to be fatal to most common components.
The control panel is situated on the cabin which contains all electrical components of the machine. This unit is located inside the operators cabin. The standard S5000 comes without cabin but with remote control and automatic cycle.

Charging box:
The unique Sierra charging box design enable to size material quickly and to close
the box without losing precious time.
The production capacity of any baler is determined by the amount of time needed to
closed the charging box.
The larger the box, the less time is needed to fold the material into the box. This is equal to higher production

Two cylinders per lid give the S5000 ample force to size any kind of material.
The hinges are never exposed to scrap when the box is closed. This is the case on most competing machines.
Replacement of the hinges is a very expensive and time consuming issue. Downtime of weeks must be calculated for this repair.
With the unique Sierra design replacement is not necessary as hinges are not subject to wear.
The roll on - roll off system enables easy transportation of the unit.
The solid electro welded structure is totally built out of Weldox and has to meet very strict quality control procedures. All welds are checked by ultrasound in order to assure a long lifetime.

The use of Weldox 400 steel allows us to keep the weight reduced to a minimum. Weldox is light weight high resistance steel. By using Weldox we can guarantee the same sturdiness as regular construction steel.
