FOREX MARKET
Trading on Friday started with the Leu losing ground for the third day in a row versus the Euro. As the RON O/N yields
were descending to 0.2% on the money market, the EUR/RON has been bought aggressively in the first trading hour.
The pair opened at 3.5860 and in 60 minutes reached 3.6100, the day high. Sellers then took advantage of the 13-day
high and the Euro returned just as fast to 3.5870-3.5880.
Today the EUR/RON has been less volatile at the market open. The Euro has been initially bided at 3.5890, made a high
at 3.5910 and was sold afterwards to 3.5840. Bids now stand at 3.5860-3.5870.
The US Dollar took out the entire support zone between 1.2670 and 1.2700. On Friday the EUR/USD has descended to
1.2625 in US trade, despite weak US economic data regarding Consumer Confidence and Retail Sales. Today the pair
has ranged between 1.2620 and 1.2640 in quiet trade as the Japanese markets have been on holiday.
MONEY MARKET
O/N rates for RON deposits are slightly up today, as the NBR will hold its weekly depo auction. Rates stand at an
average of 2/6%, up from 1/4% on Friday.
