On March 27th, the National Bank of Romania maintains the current monetary policy rate at 8.5% until May 11th, when the Administration Board shall meet again. The decision is in line with our expectation and reveals a prudent monetary policy conducted by NBR. The governor declared that NBR will continue to supervise the excess liquidity through ample open market operations.
