General description of the Sierra PREDATOR mobile baler
In the world of scrap metal processing, equipment value and capability are essential to a profitable business, and the Sierra PREDATOR mobile baler delivers on both counts.
A mobile baler / logger that s sized perfectly for cost-conscious operators. With its rugged self-framed construction the Sierra PREDATOR mobile baler incorporates features found in machines much more costly.
Our highly efficient hydraulic and power unit allow our customers to prepare their material with a very low cost per ton ratio. This means a higher operational margin and a higher profit.
The production capacity of this machine is the highest available today.
The PREDATOR has been designed with utmost care to those details which are characteristic of all Sierra products.

The advanced Sierra technology enables us to reach extremely high production

This translates into low processing costs.
The power unit of all Sierra machines has been designed in such a way that the least
possible amount of energy is needed to obtain the highest possible output ratio.
The mobile machine is diesel driven.

The PREDATOR mobile baler and logger uses top of the line variable displacement
piston pumps.
A total oil flow of 1.100 litres per minute guarantees high speed for all cylinder
movements.
The above system is used on all PREDATOR mobile balers. The power unit is equipped with two independent variable displacement piston pumps.

Control unit and crane
Ergonomic and easy to use controls enable a reliable and fast operation of the mobile PREDATOR mobile baler with crane.
The unparalleled superiority of all Sierra components have proven to be the most reliable in the industry. They are particularly well suited for the scrap yard environment where vibrations, dirt, dust and humidity prove to be fatal to most common components.
The control panel is situated on the cabin which contains all electrical components of the machine. This unit is located inside the operators cabin.

Charging box
The unique Sierra charging box design enable to size material quickly and to close
the box without losing precious time.
The production capacity of any baler is determined by the amount of time needed to closed the charging box.
All Sierra charging boxes are fully lined with replaceable Hardox 450 plates.

The unique box design has ample force to size any kind of material.
The hinges are never exposed to scrap when the box is closed. This is the case on most competing machines.
Replacement of the hinges is a very expensive and time consuming issue. Downtime of weeks must be calculated for this repair.
With the unique Sierra design replacement is not necessary as hinges are not subject to wear. The hinges have a diameter of 80 mm
The PREDATOR mobile baler uses two opposite cylinders and creates a bale in the middle of the box. The solid electro welded structure has to meet very strict quality control procedures. All welds are checked by ultrasound in order to assure a long lifetime.
All cylinders have been fitted with bronze guides and a bronze collar for better wear
control (optional)
The surfaces of all cylinders have been hardened to avoid incidental scratches.
The main baling cylinders have been fitted with positioning systems. These devices function just as limit switches and enable precise and electronic bale length setting.
Since they are located inside the main baling rams they are well protected.
